Statement of condemnation and denunciation
The Wifaq Organisation for Peace and Human Rights in Switzerland condemned the brutal repression of protesters in the city of Seiyun, located in the Hadhramaut governorate in southern Yemen, on Friday, 07.02.2026 through the use of live ammunition against unarmed demonstrators who were peacefully protesting against the northern military presence in the city. These demonstrations were met with unjustified violence , resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries and the detention of hundreds. These protests come after the entry of the so-called Yemeni emergency forces, led by Yemeni parties under the banner of legitimacy and supported by Saudi Arabia…
The Wifaq Organisation for Freedoms and Human Rights expresses its concern about the continuation of these disturbances, which broke out in early January following the Saudi intervention, during which the Saudi air force carried out more than 400 air strikes targeting forces belonging to the Southern Transitional Council, which controls all areas in Hadramaut and Al-Mahra.
The continued repression of peaceful expression poses a real threat to freedom of opinion and peaceful expression in demanding legitimate rights.
